Dave & Judy Juhl

DaveJudyJuhl-JulyDave and Judy Juhl purchased their first Corvette, an ’87 Silver Coupe, in late 1992. Dave heard about a Corvette for sale through a friend, that someone had to sell their car before the weekend was over. He bought the car the next day, and kept it for 16 years. In 2006, they decided to buy a second Vette, and purchased a 2000 Pewter 6-sp. Hardtop, which Dave began to gradually upgrade. Some of the changes include a Powerflo exhaust system, LS-3 heads with special headers, a Competition Cam, VaraRam Intake, C-6 Z51 brakes, shocks and sway bars, lowered the car 1.5 inches, and installed C-6 Z06 wheels. Also unusual about the car is how they bought it. Dave found it online at a dealership in Las Vegas. Since Judy had a brother that lives there, they called and asked him to have the car checked out, which he did, and reported back that the car was “clean”, low mileage, and immaculate. Dave bought it sight unseen.

In 2008 they decided to purchase a newer car for Judy, and found an ’89 Charcoal Roadster on eBay offered through an estate sale in Florida. They made an offer, which was accepted, and had the car shipped back to Minnesota.
In November of the same year they joined SCM, after Jim Pittelko, whom Dave had met from SCM while attending various car shows, invited him to a meeting. They were impressed with the meeting and thought it would be fun to
join a Corvette organization that offered both social and car events.

Since joining SCM, they have chaired the Firecracker Cruise for 4 years, and have co-chaired the Winery Cruise with Gene and Loretta Larson for 3 years. Judy has also co-chaired the Annual Awards Banquet twice and is chairing the
event this year. In addition they have attended or participated in all Club events, including the Chili Challenge, Plastic Fantastic, GMCCA, Cars under the Stars, and our Fall Color Run. Judy was also elected to the Board as Webmaster in 2009, a position she still holds. Dave was Board Treasurer for two years, Governor for 2 years, and is currently serving as our Vice President. When asked if they had any “favorite” events, their reply was the Spina Bfiida Picnic and the Firecracker Cruise. They also attended the 1st National Corvette Museum Caravan in 1994, followed by caravans in ’99 and ‘03 (50th Anniversary for Corvettes), and the ‘09 15th Anniversary for the Museum, which included a visit to Memphis, Tail of the Dragon, the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, Atlanta, Pensacola, Mobile, and New Orleans. They have also been to Funfest at MidAmerica.
